Roy Haynes Centennial Signature Snare Drum

  • Product News

Roy Haynes’ career and contribution to music was one of historic length and depth. His style was so foundational it earned him a lifelong nickname – ‘Snap Crackle’ – within a decade of his first forays into professional jazz drumming. A foreshadowing of foundational impacts to come.

It’s rare for a musician to have so much of a hand in a genre’s history, outside fast-moving innovators in niche sub-genre spaces. So, when someone like Roy Haynes comes along, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime phenomenon. Roy not only influenced the development of jazz but did so over eight decades – developing and innovating modern drum technique and philosophy.

What would have been Roy´s 100th Birthday, Yamaha Drums have decided to honor life and legacy with a special Centennial Signature Snare Drum YCS1455RH.

Hand Hammered and carefully assembled by our staff in Japan, the 14”x 5.5” copper shell is the core of this unique instrument.

Equipped with 45° /R2.4 bearing edges and Dyna Hoops guarantee a warm and dynamic sound that can easily be adjusted by the inner mute.

Limited to 100 pieces worldwide, each snare comes with a special brochure including a message and signature from Roy.
