What is the difference from CP88/CP73?
The main differences are in the on-board sound sources, sounds, and effects.
Sounds: While the CP88/73 has only AWM2 sound source and mainly piano/electric piano, the YC series has three sound source systems, VCM organ sound source, FM sound source and AWM2 sound source, and has a well-balanced voice lineup with selected piano/electric piano from CP, organ and synth sounds etc.
Effects: The YC series features the newly developed VCM rotary speaker and VCM effects, which use VCM technology.
Operators: The YC series is equipped with a physical drawbar for organ playing.
What is the difference between YC61/73/88?
In addition to different keys, dimensions, and weights, each is equipped with an optimized LIVE SET. The YC73/88 is also compatible with the music rest "YMR-04".
What is LIVE SET?
This function allows you to register your own programmed sounds and recall them immediately at the touch of a button.
You can register one page with 8 sounds, up to 20 pages of live set on the YC Series.
What is VCM (Virtual Circuitry Modeling)?
VCM (Virtual Circuitry Modeling) technology is Yamaha's advanced modeling technology that models analog circuits at the component level, faithfully reproducing the saturated sound and nonlinear characteristics of analog devices. The YC series features organs, rotary speakers and effects that utilize VCM technology.
What kind of sounds are built in?
As of OS v1.4, there are 10 types of organs using the new VCM organ and FM sound sources, various pianos and electric pianos, strings, synth sounds, etc. A total of 191 tones and 144 live set sounds combining these tones are built in. Other sounds may be added through firmware updates.
What is organ-drawbars?
Organ-drawbars are levers that control the organ's sound, each assigned a different pitch, and the combination of these levers can produce a variety of organ sounds.
Are there any expansion options for YC61/73/88?
No. YC-series has USB Audio/MIDI capability onboard.
YC61/73/88 has Digital Output?
YC-series has a digital output using USB Audio. This allows you to record digitally to any DAW computing device and *iOS device.

YC61/73/88 has "Master Keyboard" function?
Yes. This function allow you to advanced integrate with other MIDI devices and PC.
Is there connectivity with computer/iOS?
Yes. YC-series has USB Audio/MIDI capability onboard and can connect Mac/PC/*iOS using USB cable.

YC61/73/88 can use Bluetooth wireless MIDI adaptor MD-BT01 or UD-BT01?
Yes. YC-series supports both the MD-BT01 and UD-BT01.
YC61/73/88 can play MIDI file and Audio file?
No. YC-series has no function for play these file formats.
What is Soundmondo?
Soundmondo is a sound management and sharing service that can be used with iOS apps and Google Chrome browser on Mac/PC.
Soundmondo has the following functions.
- Save the voice currently selected on the product to the app/web
- Calling a voice on the application/web to the product and switching tones
- Manage voices on the application/web by renaming, tagging, etc.
- Manage voices on the app/web by renaming, tagging, etc. - Create a set list on the app/web

Can I record directly to USB?
No. YC-series has no function for record directly to USB.

How can I change the master tune?
Press the [TUNE] button to change the tuning of the instrument itself.
What equipment do I need to hear the sound?
YC-series are not equipped with speakers.
Please prepare powered monitor speakers or headphones separately.
Is there a music rest made for YC61/73/88?
For YC73/88, you can use music rest "YMR-04", but for YC61, there is no available music rest. Please consider using a commercially available music stand.
Can I create complete back up file?
Yes. The backup file (.Y0A) can contain all the data stored in the unit, including system settings and live set sounds. A USB flash drive is required to create a backup file.
Is there Auto-poweroff?
Yes. Please enable the auto power off function. * The power may not be turned off even if the auto power off function is enabled, depending on the condition of the main unit.
What is changed by OS update?
The OS update will add new sounds and fix problems.
What kind of foot pedal do I need to use the half-damper functionality?
If you wish to use half-damper playing techniques you need to purchase the Yamaha FC3A. It allows players to deliver nuanced performances when playing with a piano voice, very close to those performed on an acoustic piano.
Can I use a foot controller to control other parameters beside volume?
Yes. You can assign almost every available parameter to a connected FC7 foot controller.
Can I use an external device or instrument to change Live Sets remotely?
Yes. You can easily use MSB/LSB/PRG-Change commands to change Live Sets accordingly.
